South Africans love watching their sport. And most agree, sports commentary doesn’t always do the action justice. All the unbiased, polite opinions bring down the level of excitement or worse, infuriates viewers. So, we introduced an alternative option with a difference. We recruited our commentators from a group of professionals who make their living saying what’s on everyone’s minds with hilarious effect, stand-up comedians.
DSTV subscribers accessed our Comedy Commentary the same way they select the language they want, by pressing the language button on their DSTV remote. Comedy Commentary was available on SuperSport during high profile sporting events. The word was spread using DSTV’s own self-promotion spots on Comedy Central Africa, SuperSport and other relevant channels. Viewers were also reminded about Comedy Commentary during live broadcasts with squeeze backs.
